SUMMARY:Community Research Training Session 2: Methods for
Collecting Data

\n \n The Rural Durham Community Research Network
supports people in rural communities to take the l
ead in researching the issues that matter most to
them. It places power in the hands of local commun
ities\, supporting them to shape questions\, lead
research\, and use local insight to drive meaningf
ul change in communities.
\n \n In
terested VCSE organisations\, community groups\, a
nd individuals are invited to join a series of fre
e weekly community research training sessions happ
ening throughout April and May 2026.
\n \n We’re suppor
ting a growing community of researchers\, and in 2
024\, we delivered workshops\, training and funded four VCSE orga
nisations to deliver research. You can hear more abo

\n \n The training sessions will be delivere
d by a small\, friendly team of researchers and fa
cilitators from Durham University\, Durham Communi
ty Action and the Rural Design Centre. The session
s are an opportunity to develop new skills\, knowl
edge and/or to move forward with a community resea
rch idea you might have.
\n \n <
p>Each ses
sion will cover different learning topics\, and yo
u can choose to attend all or some of them dependi
ng on your interest and capacity. \n \n Sessio
n 2 will focus on methods for collecting
data- creative methods including photography\, wal
king interviews\, and mapping\, as well as more tr
aditional research methods including surveys\, int
ervoews and focus groups.

p>It will take place on Wednesday 29th
April from 10.00am - 4.00pm at Wolsingham Town Hal
l\, and a light lunch will be provided. Attendees are welcome to arrive from 9.45am for t
eas and coffees. \n \n For any enquirie
