Share and Learn Network Meeting – Martyn’s Law and Winter Wellness

Registration is closed for this event

We are inviting trustees and staff from voluntary and community sector organisations to join our next online network meeting on Thursday 6th November from 10.00 – 11.30am, focusing on Martyn’s Law and Winter Wellness.

What to expect:

  • Graham Wakeman will be joining us from Counter Terrorism Policing North East to talk about Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) and what this means for Community Buildings and Village Halls.
  • Sean Berry from Public Health will give attendees advice and information on the effects of cold weather on individuals, fall prevention, welfare and financial support and how to order winter wellness materials, alongside advice and suggestions on what you can do to help protect health.

You’ll also have the chance to share your own experiences and tips in smaller breakout rooms, discussing:

  • What are your current procedures for emergencies? (e.g. fire, evacuation, etc.)
  • What good practice could you share around training volunteers/staff?
  • What kind of winter wellness materials or advice would be most useful for your users?

The Durham Community Action Share and Learn Network connects community organisations that manage local buildings and services. Our regular meetings cover a range of topics, from governance to funding and compliance.

To book:

Reserve your spot via this page, or contact Isla Ballard on 01388 742040 or email  isla.ballard@durhamcommunityaction.org.uk.
