We’re inviting trustees and staff of Community Centres and Village Halls to join our next online network meeting to celebrate Village Halls Week.
This year’s Village Halls Week theme is connecting communities to health and wellbeing.
Community Buildings play an important role in keeping people healthy, active, and connected. By providing spaces for exercise, social clubs, health sessions, and peer support, they help prevent isolation and promote wellbeing.
What to expect:
- Lucy Reeves, Project Officer, National Literary Trust, will be joining us to talk about the National Year of Reading campaign, which aims for everyone to get involved in and celebrate reading and it’s many benefits: improved health and wellbeing, better life chances, developing empathy and opening doors to the wider world. The National Literacy Trust will discuss why we are in a reading crisis, why reading is so beneficial, how village halls can get involved in the National Year of Reading, and share creative ideas to bring reading into our communities.
You’ll also have the chance to share your own experiences and tips in smaller breakout rooms.
The Durham Community Action Share and Learn Network connects community organisations that manage local buildings and services. Our regular meetings cover a range of topics, from governance to funding and compliance.
Attendance is free, although booking in advance is required to secure places, which are limited.
