Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Workshop

The workshop will be delivered through Zoom by Durham Community Action and will be hosted by Beth Dale, Regional Outreach Adviser (North East) with Partnership Team, Strategy and Performance Directorate at Disclosure and Barring Service. 

The session will cover:

  • The benefits of DBS and you working together
  • The different levels of DBS checks and when an employee/volunteer is eligible for a check
  • What Regulated Activity is
  • The DBS Update Service
  • Have an understanding of what safe recruitment practices can be in place that DBS checks can form a part of
  • Understand the three different bariing referral routes
  • Understand when a DBS barring referrral should be made, including when the legal duty is met
  • Understand how to make a good quality referral
  • Have a clear understanding of the consequences of not making appropriate barring referrals and the consequences of being included in one or both barred lists. 

This event will take place online and joining instructions will be sent prior to the session.

Attendance is free although booking in advance is required to secure places.
