The Cornforth Partnership is delighted to announce it has been awarded £498, 837 from the National Lottery Community Fund to support its work to improve the health, wellbeing and employability of residents living in deprived communities across County Durham.
The Durham Together project is a brand-new partnership approach to tackling, unemployment, and poor health in the most deprived communities of County Durham and will create new opportunities and support to help those living in left behind communities to have access to greater opportunities in their local community.
The project will see The Cornforth Partnership join forces with 4 other community-based organisations: Durham Community Action, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Wheels 2 Work County Durham and WEA North East and Cumbria. It will enable them to provide a robust package of community-based support services, community learning and bespoke training linked to areas of economic growth, in order to support individuals to increase their confidence, improve their health and wellbeing and progress into further learning or sustainable employment and volunteering.
Tony Cutmore, CEO of The Cornforth Partnership says: “We are delighted to be giving this opportunity to work in partnership with likeminded organisations to offer much needed support in those communities which are falling further into decline due to lack of investment and opportunity. The Durham Together approach is very much about working with communities to bring in additional support and services based on their needs and ultimately put local people at the forefront of employment opportunities in our area. This is a real opportunity to showcase how working together with voluntary organisations and communities can improve outcomes for residents”.
The Durham Together project will go live in April 2024 and will operate for a minimum of 3 years. |
