Successful first Virtual Meet the Funders event!

We were delighted to welcome over 70 representatives of voluntary and community groups across County Durham to our first virtual Meet the Funders event on Tuesday. Thank you to County Durham Community Foundation, Durham County Council and The National Lottery Community Fund for giving presentations at the event.

Village Halls Week 2021 is a national celebration of the 10,000 plus village halls which can be found across England, their volunteers and the difference they make tho the rural communities they serve. There are lots of online activities and events planned throughout the week so please get involved!

Share and Learn Meeting - Community Buildings Network

We are holding an online Share and Learn Meeting for Community Buildings on Thursday 28th January to celebrate Village Halls Week, and this will be an opportunity for trustees and staff to come together to talk about the resilience of community buildings, share ideas and discuss current legislation.

Seeking COVID Vaccination Clinic Support Marshals

Volunteers are required to be at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. Could you be part of it and play your part in protecting your community? We are seeking to establish a bank of volunteers to support local COVID vaccination clinics across the county.

Supporting Local Food Markets

Markets are not only an important source of affordable fresh fruit and veg, they are a lifeline for local farmers who supply them and a great way to connect people with where their food comes from. This recent episode of The Farmers’ Country Showdown features two County Durham farms preparing for market.

In County Durham, the markets that have managed to stay open have worked hard to ensure customers and producers are kept safe and we hope they can continue to do so. You can find up to date info about farmers’ markets in your area at www.neefm.co.uk

A new national campaign has been launched to encourage government to allow local markets to keep trading where they can do so safely.

The North East Better Health at Work Award

The North East Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of local employers in addressing health and wellbeing issues within the workplace.

The award scheme is FREE, flexible and open to all employers in the North East, regardless of size, location or type of business.

The County Durham Award is managed and delivered by the Pioneering Care Partnership, funded in County Durham, the delivery of the BHAWA is funded by Durham County Council, working with Public Health and the TUC.

Consultation on Community Energy in the North East

VONNE (Voluntary Organisations Network North East) and the Centre for Sustainable Energy have launched an ‘energise your community consultation’ on behalf of the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Local Authorities in the North East of England. They are keen to understand how they can better support the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector in the North East to tackle climate change and build more resilient communities through their support for community energy. They are keen to hear the interests and views of all stakeholders, whether or not there is previous experience in community energy.

NHS Charities Together: COVID-19 Community Partnership Grants Programme North East and Cumbria

This programme, managed by County Durham Community Foundation, aims to support communities by providing project funding through partnerships of public and/or third sector social and health care organisations. The three key themes for the programme are addressing health inequalities, support for mental health and wellbeing and access to, and support for, digital inclusion. The deadline for applications is 31st January,
